AP Royal Oak 50th Anniversary
Audemars Piguet celebrated the 50-year anniversary of their immensely popular Royal Oak series back in 2022. Initially released in April 1972, the Royal Oak model has received many upgrades over the period but the design has remained iconic and timeless. To celebrate the work of the legendary Gerald Genta, they released a couple of new watches with a special touch. As seen in the video, the 50th anniversary Royal Oak watches featured a special 50th-anniversary rotor visible from the open case back of the watch. These AP watches caught the attention of watch enthusiasts and soon enough people started spending a higher premium just to get that special 50th-anniversary model.
While the 2023 and 2024 models also have the label 50th Anniversary on them, they are not as special as the ones sold in 2022 because they do not get the special 50th Anniversary rotor.
