Patek Philippe Cubitus Release

Leaked: Patek Philippe Cubitus Set to Release on October 17

It's been a long time since Patek Philippe has introduced a new collection to its lineup. Maybe, 2024 is the right year to introduce a whole new design to the Patek family. Although nothing is confirmed yet, there are rumors about it and now we have some promising leaks that made their way out of the Swiss watch brand's offices. Here's everything you need to know about the leaked watch.

Patek Philippe Cubitus: What to Expect?

Patek Philippe Cubitus is not just one watch in the making it is a whole collection of watches that is likely to be released gradually over the course of next year. But for now, the company is releasing what looks to be a stainless steel watch with a blue strap and a blue dial. Later, we might see more material options and different dial and strap combinations as well.

From the picture that got leaked, we can tell that the first Cubitus watch will feature a moon phase indicator and even a date window. This actually makes this Patek Philippe watch a whole lot more practical. Considering the brand is aiming at providing a watch at a relatively lower price point compared to the Nautilus collection, this seems to be a watch most enthusiasts would appreciate.

Price and Release Date

As the leaks suggest, the timepiece will be unveiled on October 17, 2024. The watch is expected to be showcased at a private event in Munich, Germany where the Swiss watchmaker has invited some watch collectors for the keynote.

It is being said that this timepiece will retail for somewhere between 110,000 AED to 150,000. Built out of stainless steel, this watch features a moon phase indicator. Considering that the Nautilus 5712 with a similar movement retails for about $51,850, the price bracket leaked for the Cubitus seems to be quite right. Since it has a strap instead of a full bracelet, we can understand why it would be relatively cheaper than the 5712.

What would be interesting is to see the reaction in the secondary market. The demand for this watch will drive the prices and the premium people are willing to pay for it will tell us what people think about this watch. However, we cannot tell much about the demand or the price right after the release. This is because usually when a brand like Rolex or Patek releases a new watch, the demand is high as everyone wants to be the first one to own one. But when that trend settles, you will actually see what the watch is worth in the secondary market.

Should We be Excited about the New Cubitus?

Yes, we should be excited about the fact that we are getting more options from the house of Patek Philippe. But what I am personally not sold on is the design of this new addition. To me it looks like they took a Nautilus case and tried to make it look more squared. The dial is nice though. It looks like they took the ideas from the 5712 and the 5726 Nautilus models. It gets the same moonphase indicator and the seconds sub-dial as seen on the 5712. But instead of a power reserve indicator, they added a date window just like we saw on the 5726. With this and the pattern on the blue dial, the brand has still managed to stay close to its roots.

What makes things even more exciting is that this is the first new collection by Patek since the release of the Aquanaut collection back in 1997.
