AP Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked Titanium
Built with a mix of Titanium and BMG, the all-new Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar 26585XT is a stunning watch to look at. It draws its power from the Caliber 5135. Even though the new 7138 movement has already been released, I would still say it was a wise choice to use the trusted 5134-based Perpetual Calendar movement on an important timepiece like this one.
Titanium & BMG Magic
BMG or Bulk Metalic Glass is what has been used to manufacture the bezel and the caseback frame of the watch. Even the mid-links of the bracelet have been made of BMG. This just shows APs dedication towards trying out different materials and being bold enough to use something like this on a special edition watch.
The 26585XT features a 41mm titanium case which is just 9.9mm thick. Being Titanium, it means that this watch wears much lighter on the wrist when compared to a steel or a gold watch.
The watch also gets a screwed-down titanium crown which offers durability and ensures the watch remains water-resistant. Speaking of water resistance, this Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar is rated to be water resistant for up to 20 meters.
A Stunning Timepiece
The beauty of this timepiece lies in the dial. It is what makes this watch even more special than it is. The skeleton bezel is surrounded by a brass blue inner bezel that just looks spot on! Most of the elements of the dial have taken inspiration from AP’s Openworked Perpetual Calendar pocket watch ref 25729.
All of the sub-dials are outlined in blue, which just looks stunning. Right on top of the moonphase indicator, AP has placed its logo in a different stylistic font. Unlike the AP logo we see on other watches, this one really screams that this watch is a special edition. After all, it is so special that it is celebrating the 150th anniversary of one of the best watch brands to have ever existed. Being a special one, this also had to be a limited edition and that’s why there will only be 150 of these to be ever made.
With a retail price of approximately AED 720,000, this one will most likely be offered only to the watch collectors who have been collecting APs for a long long time. Once this hits the secondary market, we can easily expect it to fetch over a million AED given the fact that there will only be a 150 of these in the whole world!
AP Code 11.59 Sand Gold Tourbillon
While the Royal Oaks are arguably some of the best AP watches out there, the brand did do something special for the Code 11 fans as well. As a part of the 150th anniversary celebration, AP finally introduced the Flying Tourbillon to its Code 11.59 collection.
Featuring a 38mm case, the all new Code 11.59 ref 26665SG is powered by the selfwinding Calibre 2968. Made out of Sand Gold, this timepiece has even received some diamond treatment. It features 235 brilliant-cut diamonds totalling around 1.2 carats. These diamonds have been placed on the lugs, crown and the middle of the case.

What makes this piece special is the fact that its the first time AP managed to fit a tourbillon on a 38mm case. But unlike the Royal Oaks Perpetual Calendar 26585XT, this Code 11.59 is not a limited edition model.
AP’s Way of Celebrating 150th Anniversary
Both of the newly released watches are extremely special. AP couldn’t have made a better choice picking up 2 watches to celebrate its 150th anniversary. As a fan of Audemars Piguet, I cannot take my eyes off these pieces and I am really looking forward to holding one of these in person!
