Submariners hold a special place in the hearts of Rolex fans but what gets an even special place is the Hulk. The Submariner Hulk has left many people impressed eventually giving it a name of its own. While the name comes from its green color, the Hulk is not the first Submariner to feature a green bezel. It has also been done before with Kermit and it has been done again with Starbucks. But what's the difference between the three? Let’s find out.

Green is a color that not many appreciate having on their timepiece. But for those who do, the Submariner Date with a green bezel is definitely the way to go. Considering the variety of green colors available in the Rolex catalog, one might get confused about which one to get. Here’s a detailed comparison of all the three Submariners – Hulk vs Kermit vs Starbucks.

Green Bezel Submariner era was initiated by the Submariner Date 16610LV. Nicknamed ‘Kermit’, the watch was launched back in 2003. The Swiss watch manufacturer came up with a unique colorway to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Submariner lineup. The Rolex Submariner was first introduced back in 1953 and since has been one of the most desirable timepieces.

The Kermit was an eye-catching watch at the time as not many people were wearing green-bezel watches. To top that off, the watch featured a black bezel and the whole combination was put together really well.

Rolex Kermit was in production for 7 long years before it got discontinued in 2010. The company then introduced the 116610LV, which shortly after its launch received the nickname ‘Hulk’. Besides getting an impressive new green dial, the color tone of the green on the bezel also changed slightly. This was due to the fact that the Submariner Date now included a Cerachrome bezel.

The ceramic made the green color look slightly different than the Kermit, which had a than before. While Kermit’s green was more glossy emerald green, the green color on the Hulk’s bezel was a deeper shade. It was not just the ceramic bezel that was introduced by the watch, it also brought the new maxi case with the squared-off lugs. It also got the updated bracelet and the newer movement.

Rolex Submariner Date “Starbucks/Cermit”

Everyone’s favorite Rolex Submariner Hulk was in production from the year 2010 to 2020. The short answer to this question would be – it depends. As easy as the question sounds, the answer is not that easy or straightforward. To begin with, in the comparison of Rolex Hulk vs Kermit vs Starbucks, the Rolex Kermit and Hulk have been discontinued. But thanks to them being from a brand like Rolex, you might be able to find a great deal. As for the latest Starbucks, there will be a huge wait-list for getting a brand new one.

So, as you will ultimately have to grab one from the pre-owned market, it boils down to your personal preference. If you prefer the older green bezel, you will be better off with a Kermit. In case you are looking for a green dial as well, your only option would be the Hulk. Last but not least, if you want a new and improved movement, then you cannot go wrong with Starbucks.
