On the secondary market, many Patek perpetual calendars trade below boutique retail prices. That makes an unworn or pre-owned watch one of the most cost-effective ways to own a Grand Complication. Rarer references, especially Celestial models, some 5270P dials and chiming watches, usually trade much closer to retail or above it.

Shop Patek Philippe Grand Complications by Complication
Patek Philippe groups its most complex luxury watches under the Grand Complications name. The best way to shop the collection is by the complication you actually want on your wrist.
Perpetual Calendars
A perpetual calendar shows the date, day, month, leap year cycle and usually the moon phase, and adjusts for months of different lengths on its own. It won’t need a manual date correction until 2100. This is the most popular way into the collection.
- 5320G: 40mm white gold with a vintage-inspired dial and day/month windows. It is one of the most wearable perpetual calendars Patek makes.
- 5327G and 5327R: 39mm with a classic Calatrava-style case and Breguet numerals. It is a slightly dressier option.
- 5236P In-Line Perpetual Calendar: 41.3mm platinum, with day, date, and month displayed in one line across the dial. It is easy to read at a glance.
- 5160/500R and 6159G: Retrograde perpetual calendars for buyers who want something more unusual.

Perpetual Calendar Chronographs
This is where a perpetual calendar meets a chronograph. These references are often seen as the core of Patek’s Grand Complications line.
- 5270J, 5270/1R, and 5270P: These watches are 41mm, available in yellow gold, rose gold on a bracelet, and platinum with a range of dial colors. The 5270P is one of the most requested references in the collection.
- 5271P: The gem-set version of 5270 in platinum, for buyers who want a perpetual calendar chronograph with diamonds or precious stones.
Split-Seconds Chronographs
A split-seconds or rattrapante chronograph has a second “seconds hand,” so you can time two events at once. It is one of the hardest chronographs to build.
- 5204G: A split-seconds chronograph with a perpetual calendar in white gold.
- 5370R: A split-seconds chronograph in rose gold, with no calendar, for a cleaner dial.
- 5373P: A split-seconds monopusher chronograph with a perpetual calendar, designed for left-handed wearers.

Celestial and Astronomical Watches
These watches show the night sky, star movements, and moon phases over the wearer’s location.
- 6102P and 6102R Celestial: A rotating star chart with the moon’s phase and orbit, in a 44mm case.
- 6104 Celestial Joaillerie and the newer 6105G Celestial Sunrise and Sunset.
- 6002R Sky Moon Tourbillon: A double-faced watch and one of the most complicated Patek models in serial production.
Minute Repeaters and Chiming Watches
A minute repeater chimes the hours, quarter hours and minutes when you press a slide or pusher. Patek produces very few each year.
- 5178G, 7040/250G and 7047G: Minute repeaters for men and women.
- 5374G: A minute repeater with a perpetual calendar.
- 5531G World Time Minute Repeater: Chimes the local time in whichever time zone you select.
- 6301P Grande and Petite Sonnerie and the 6300 Grandmaster Chime: The most complicated chiming watches in the collection. Availability is extremely limited, so contact us to source one.

How to Choose the Right Grand Complication
- Start with the complication you will use: A perpetual calendar is useful every day. A chronograph or minute repeater is something you use occasionally and enjoy for its engineering.
- Check the case size: 39mm to 40mm (5327, 5320G) suits most wrists and fits under a shirt cuff. At 41mm and above (5270, 5236P, 6102), the watch has more wrist presence.
- Choose your metal: Platinum is heavier and more discreet; you can spot it by the small diamond Patek sets in the caseband at 6 o’clock. Rose gold is warmer. White gold looks like steel but carries the weight of gold.
- Think about how often you will wear it: If a perpetual calendar stops, its calendar must be set again. If you rotate between watches, keep it on a watch winder.
- Decide between strap and bracelet: Most Grand Complications come on alligator straps. The 5270/1R and some ladies’ watches come on gold bracelets, which suit everyday wear in the UAE heat.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How much does a Patek Philippe Grand Complication cost?
On the secondary market, Patek Philippe perpetual calendars such as the 5320G and 5327 start at around AED 200,000. Perpetual calendar chronographs such as the 5270 typically range from AED 440,000 to 845,000. Celestial models and minute repeaters can exceed AED 1,100,000.
What counts as a Grand Complication at Patek Philippe?
Patek Philippe uses the Grand Complications name for its most technically complex watches. These include perpetual calendars, split-seconds chronographs, Celestial and astronomical watches, and minute repeaters. Its simpler complications, such as annual calendars and world timers, are in the separate Complications collection.
Can I buy a Patek Philippe Grand Complication without a waiting list?
Yes. WatchMaestro is an independent dealer in Dubai, so we sell unworn and pre-owned watches directly. There is no allocation process or purchase history required, and you can buy any in-stock watch today.
Are your Grand Complication watches authentic?
Yes. Every watch is inspected and authenticated before it is listed, and each listing states the watch’s condition, year, and whether it comes with its original box and papers.
What is the difference between unworn and pre-owned?
An unworn watch has never been worn and normally comes with its full set. A pre-owned watch has been worn before; its condition is inspected and described in the listing, and it is usually priced lower than an unworn example.
Do Patek Philippe Grand Complications retain their value?
It depends on the reference. Rare models, such as Celestial watches, some 5270P dials and minute repeaters, tend to retain their value well. Many perpetual calendars trade below retail on the secondary market, which makes them good value for buyers.
